Identity is the root of many problems we see today, as well as many of the potential solutions. Noah received a message on his phone for an identity that has not used his phone in many years. The sender needed a way of determining if their information was current.

As individual’s we’re all fed up with our identity being hacked by one corporation break-in after another. We’d like to be in control, and perhaps by decentralizing the problem, we can make big corporate honey pots less attractive for the hackers.
Across social and business aspects of our identity, we share much information. Scammers use the information shared on social media sites for targeted attacks. Individuals should be empower to remove that information when they realize the risks in exposing it. For over one decade I’ve been advising people to not use Facebook.
Community is an important aspect of TNID, they have spam reporting built in, and also you can create different groups, like family groups. So families can protect each other.
The spam / scam reporting enables individuals to report bad behavior. And using the regulations around TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) enable brands to contact is a compliant way. And if its a spammer / scammer enable the lawyers to go after them.
Noah gives another use case on polling, how he could run a poll across his communities and share the results publicly were the identities are anonymized, yet real.
I share the importance of family groups in helping the family protect individual vulnerable members who are being targeted by scammers. When family and communities are empowered, where they have control through self-sovereign identity, a new interaction model is created. Remember, you control your identity, so consent can also be revoked at any time.
