With ICA, they’re not just enhancing telecommunication security; they’re creating a future where communication is smarter, safer, and more efficient for everyone.
Michael was in Uganda for this session, while the troublesome Zoom link was with Long Island, go figure.
Michael, like most of us, is frustrated with the degradation of the PSTN. This frustration coupled with the siloed approaches to solving the problem drove him to join ICA.
It’s a new approach using your relationship data to create a digital twin of you. Across all you calls, communications, messages, emails, social media connections / conversations, calendar invites, etc. A digital twin that know you better than yourself.
Michael focused on the robocalling use case. ICA intercepts all calls, and makes a decision on how to treat them. With my start-up Teltier, this was one of the ideas we were examining. However, the technology of 2000 was inadequate; today, the time is right.
Across your relationship fingerprint ICA makes a determination on whether the caller has a reason to call you, they ask why? So it’s a verified call including the actual reason for the call.
Michael made reference to where they are in the business development process: crawl, walk, run. They focus on PSTN calling for wireless carriers, and the plague of robocalling their customers are subject to daily. The technology can also be applied to IP communications, not just the PSTN. Its covered by 11 international patents.
Currently ICA are talking with members of the ecosystem such as the FCC, Vonage, AT&T, gathering feedback on ICA and understanding the roles it can play, Working with technology providers to these companies appears the sweet spot. In particular improving branded calling performance. They’re hoping to add another 3 or 4 channels to market.
Michael gave an example of a new connection from a recent conference. So it’s not in your metadata. However, the caller metadata can be interrogated to know its not a spammer, i.e. calling hundreds or thousands of people per hour.
We plan on a follow-up session once Michael is back in the US to dive into more detail with a demo, likely the end of June. If you have any questions for the ICA team, please add them to the comments and we’ll ask them in the upcoming ICA session.
