Presentation Review
Raman was watching TADSummit Asia and asked if he could be part of it. The answer was, ‘of course!’ CloudConnect is a great example of home grown innovation focused on the Indian market. Built on open source, I’ve met Raman at several open source events over the years. CloudConnect really is a great example of how a small team can quickly build an impressive array of communication solutions thanks to open source. Packaged and delivered for Indian enterprises (large and small) and service provider channel partners.
The communication services from the Bay Area providers are often too expensive, too complex, misses specific local market needs and support. Hence why CloudConnect exists, and will likely be bought in the future, especially when large service providers understand markets like India better with, using Raman’s words, ‘sensible’ offers.
I remember being in a meeting where UC was being pitch to the CIO of a chinese multinational. After the pitch the CIO explained how his existing mobile service has most of the features described, without the additional $10 per month per employee. Markets around the world are different, localization is critical.
CloudConnect offers IP telephony, virtual offices, mobile first communications, collaboration with customer and
their partners, DID numbers, video conferencing (which I’ve used), and UCaaS solutions with an API stack (CPaaS).
Thank you Raman for introducing CloudConnect. You can ask questions in the comments section of this weblog, or by contacting Raman directly, his contact info is in the slides.
Thanks Raman for introducing CloudConnect, I have some questions:
1) What do you consider are some of the unique challenges in India for delivery all the services CloudConnect offers?
2) As you offer both direct to enterprise and through channels (service providers) how do you avoid competing with your channels?
3) Can you share what open source telecom software you use, and what you consider to be their strengths and areas for development?
Hi Alan,
Please see my replies in-line below to your questions.
1) What do you consider are some of the unique challenges in India for delivery all the services CloudConnect offers? – The unique challenges are; Awareness of VoIP as Telecoms is heavily regulated and most businesses have fears of going VoIP. Issues with Data networks as they are not VoIP optimised, Number portability is yet another huge issue and so on.
2) As you offer both direct to enterprise and through channels (service providers) how do you avoid competing with your channels? – We offer our services directly to Enterprises as well as work with channel partners. As an MSP, we offer our services to service providers and there is no competition as our segments are very different.
3) Can you share what open source telecom software you use, and what you consider to be their strengths and areas for development? – We use OpenSips (With thanks to Bogdan) though we have made lots of changes to make it work for us in India due to compliance issues.
